HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES

A fantastic view flying high above the Tuscan countryside.

Every day is unique when flying in a hot air balloon because depending on which way the wind is blowing the hot air balloon can be transported in literally any direction. In the summer, the hot air balloon rides begin at dawn when the air is cool and time seems to stand still. The hot air balloon has a delicate, gentle, slow flight that allows you to experience life high above the undisturbed Tuscan countryside... perhaps spotting a herd of wild boars or a family of deer. You can experience flying over the bell towers of the small hilltop towns and soaring over the dirt roads and rows of bountiful vineyards lining the hills. A hot air balloon ride will make your vacation at Capanna Suites a truly unforgettable experience.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Set against the splendid backdrop of the rolling hills surrounding Capanna Suites and Montalcino it is possible to participate in horseback riding activities for beginners all the way to expert level riders. Our carefully selected partners know how to tailor an experience to your level and offer various possibilities from a one-hour horseback ride to an entire day with stops in the most panoramic spots. During the summer, it is even possible to book a nighttime horseback riding experience. For those who want to learn to ride or sharpen their skills it’s possible to have horseback riding lessons of various levels at a riding stable not far from our agriturismo accommodations in Tuscany.

TRUFFLE HUNTING EXPERIENCE

Truffles are one of the main ingredients used in our local Val d’Orcia cuisine, and the reason is that this area has a large production of this exquisite and highly-coveted ingredient.

Not far from Montalcino, in the countryside near Montisi, it is possible to participate in a real Tuscan truffle hunt, going into the woods looking for this precious tuber alongside a truffle hunter and his friendly truffle hunting dogs. In this area, truffle hunting can be done all year long with black truffles found in the summer months and white truffles, the most famous, found in the autumn and winter.

TOURS WITH LUXURY VEHICLE AND GUIDE

For a day of stress-free sightseeing, we can organize a private day of touring for you with a luxury vehicle and guide. The elegant vehicles are fully equipped and always have cold water and Wi-Fi. You will be taken to the top sightseeing locations of your choice, all while being told interesting information and stories about the area’s history and art.

It is also possible to organize a shopping tour. The headquarters of several top Italian fashion brands, such as Prada and Gucci, are located here in Tuscany.

THERMAL SPRINGS

In less than 50 minutes by car from Capanna Suites you can reach several different thermal spring areas: Rapolano Terme, Petriolo, San Casciano dei Bagni, and San Filippo. In each of these locations, you will find private thermal spa complexes that have various types of thermal baths and pools, beauty treatments, and restaurants available to paying guests. Most of the areas also have a place where you can experience totally natural hot springs in the wild which are open and free of charge. For instance, there are natural pools at the San Filippo thermal springs, just 30 minutes by car from Capanna, which are shown in the photo on the right.  Our reception staff will be happy to advise you on the thermal spring experience that is most suitable to your needs.
